Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) conducts the UPPCS exam to recruit candidates for various administrative posts in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Here’s the detailed and updated syllabus for UPPCS Prelims and Mains, suitable for aspirants preparing for the exam.

UPPCS Prelims Syllabus

The Prelims stage is objective in nature and consists of two papers:

Paper 1 – General Studies I

• History of India & Indian National Movement

• Geography of India and World – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India & World

• Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues

• Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives

• Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity, and Climate Change

• General Science

• Current Affairs – National & International Importance

Duration: 2 hours
Marks: 200
Type: Objective (MCQs)

Paper 2 – CSAT (General Studies II)

• Comprehension

• Interpersonal Skills including Communication Skills

• Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability

• Decision Making and Problem Solving

• General Mental Ability

• Basic Numeracy (up to Class X level)

• Data Interpretation (Charts, Graphs, Tables)

Duration: 2 hours
Marks: 200 (Qualifying – need 33%)
Type: Objective (MCQs)

UPPCS Mains Syllabus

The Mains exam is descriptive and includes 8 papers:

Paper 1 – General Hindi (Qualifying)

• Essay, Precis Writing, Grammar, Translation
  Marks: 150

Paper 2 – Essay

• Divided into 3 sections (Choose 1 topic from each)
  Marks: 150

Paper 3 – General Studies I

• Indian Heritage & Culture, History, Geography of the World & Society
  Marks: 200

Paper 4 – General Studies II

• Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice, International Relations
  Marks: 200

Paper 5 – General Studies III

• Technology, Economic Development, Biodiversity, Environment, Security, Disaster Management
  Marks: 200

Paper 6 – General Studies IV

• Ethics, Integrity, Aptitude, Case Studies
  Marks: 200

Paper 7 – General Studies V (Uttar Pradesh Specific)

• History, Culture, Polity, Economy, Geography of Uttar Pradesh
  Marks: 200

Paper 8 – Optional Subject (Any one subject from list)

• Two papers of the chosen subject
  Marks: 200 each

Interview (Personality Test)

• Candidates who qualify Mains are called for an interview.
  Marks: 100

Final Selection

Final merit is based on:

• Mains Marks (Except Hindi – qualifying only)

• Interview Marks
